Artist's Comments

This shot was actually captured by having my camera placed firmly on the wooden handrail leading to the wooden platform to the boatshed. I didn't have my tripod with me, and doing a long exposure such as this requires one. So I have to find a "poor-man's" tripod, essentially, spotting anything thing nearby that would provide me the firm and stable platform to rest my camera. I also used the timer to trigger the shutter as I found that most of my long exposure photos ended up blurry because of me pressing the shutter and causing a slight vibrant on the camera. The slightest shake on a long exposure shot will result in a less than perfectly sharp image.

Lovely shot :) I realy like the strong colour saturation. I think I've seen this building before but it was a b&w shot.
I totally sympathise with you over keeping the camera steady. I own a tripod but rarely have it with me because of the bulk. I tend to carry a small bean bag (about 2x the size of the body) in my camera bag just to make a steadier platform and protect the camera from the rock/pole/whatever I end up resting it on.
